  2. How it Started

The program started as a request from LAUSD to create a program to address bullying at a local school. We used computer animation as a means for helping the students discuss areas of concern and practice problem solving.

Dr. Pelham's research (click here) has been validated in dozens of students as an empirically-based treatment program. Our program is based on about 70% of the same elements. One of the big differences is that we select our group so that each child who attends not only has needs, but also has strengths which his or her peers can model. These allows each child to act as a "Social Beacon", a term you'll learn more about later on.
